Survey in a salt mine

From November 4 to 18, members of the 3D-US Lab carried out borehole measurements with the newly developed geophone sledge in a German salt mine. Six 3-component borehole receivers, each spaced 15 m apart, were installed to a depth of 117 m. The receivers were used to record the seismic waves excited by the "Quadvib" vibration source along the surrounding drifts. The objectives of the measurements are a functional check of the borehole receivers and the improvement of an already existing structural model.
